How to Connect to Wi-Fi on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Connecting to a Wi-Fi Network
Follow these steps to connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to a Wi-Fi network:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Wi-Fi.
- Turn on Wi-Fi.
- Select the Wi-Fi network you want to join.
- If the network is password-protected, enter the password.
Joining Open, Secured, or Public Wi-Fi Networks
Wi-Fi networks can be classified into three types:
- Open networks: These networks do not require a password to connect.
- Secured networks: These networks require a password to connect.
- Public networks: These networks are typically available in public places, such as libraries, coffee shops, and airports. They may require a login or registration.
Changing Your Data Connection
If you are connected to Wi-Fi but want to switch to your cellular data connection, you can do so in Settings under Cellular.
Enabling or Disabling Automatic Wi-Fi Connect
You can choose whether or not your device automatically connects to Wi-Fi networks. To enable or disable this feature:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Wi-Fi.
- Toggle the Ask to Join Networks switch.
