Craig Berube Hired as Head Coach of Toronto Maple Leafs
Berube Replaces Sheldon Keefe After Five Seasons
Former Blues Head Coach Brings Experience and Success to Toronto
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that Craig Berube has been hired as the hockey club's head coach. Berube replaces Sheldon Keefe, who was fired earlier this month after five seasons.
Berube, 58, has a wealth of experience at the NHL level, both as a player and a coach. He played over 1000 games in the NHL, earning a reputation as an enforcer. He also has a strong coaching resume, having led the St. Louis Blues to a Stanley Cup championship in 2019.
In his time with the Blues, Berube compiled a record of 206-132-44. He helped the team reach the playoffs in each of his five seasons at the helm, including two trips to the Western Conference Finals.
Berube's hiring is a sign that the Maple Leafs are serious about contending for a Stanley Cup. He brings a winning pedigree and a proven ability to get the most out of his players to Toronto.
