Lamar Jackson Named AP NFL MVP
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was named the National Football Leagues Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the 2023 season.
Jackson received 49 of the 50 votes from a nationwide panel of sportswriters and broadcasters who cover the NFL. He is the youngest player to win the award for the Ravens at 25 years old.
Jackson led the Ravens to a 14-2 record in the regular season, which was the best record in the AFC. He also threw for 3,127 yards, 36 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He rushed for 1,206 yards and seven touchdowns.
Jackson's performance in the playoffs was even more impressive. He led the Ravens to a 34-28 win over the Tennessee Titans in the Divisional Round, and a 23-17 win over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game.
Jackson is the first player in NFL history to rush for over 1,000 yards and throw for over 3,000 yards in a season. He is also the first player to be named MVP of the NFL and the Heisman Trophy.
